In a bid to strengthen economic growth and create a conducive environment for investors, the Katsina State Executive Council has approved the 2026 Business Enabling Reform Action Plan.
The approval, part of a series of strategic initiatives by the state government, aims to improve ease of doing business and attract private sector investment across Katsina.
The commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Dr Faisal Kaita, highlighted that the council also approved the immediate implementation of revised master plans for Katsina, Funtua, and Daura.
“This underscores the administration’s determination to ensure orderly urban development, modern infrastructure, and transformation of our major urban centres,” he said.
On housing, the council approved the construction of 150 completed housing units and 350 serviced plots with essential facilities in the state metropolis, a move expected to address pressing accommodation challenges and support urban expansion.
In education, the council approved a N30, 000 per term rural teacher allowance, totaling N90, 000 per academic session, to encourage teachers to accept and remain in rural postings.
Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hon. Yusuf Suleiman Jibia, also announced the establishment of three Teacher Development Centres in Katsina, Daura, and Funtua senatorial districts.
These centres will provide regular training programmes for teachers, drawing on expertise from Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Isah Kaita College of Education, and retired professionals, to enhance instructional quality across the state.
The council further underscored its commitment to youth development through the approval of supply and installation of equipment and machinery for 28 departments at the Katsina Youth Craft Village, aimed at promoting skills acquisition and improving employability.
Healthcare reforms were strengthened as the council approved recommendations from the Interministerial Task Force to supervise private health institutions.
According to the special adviser on Tertiary Health Institutions, Umar Mammada, this initiative will sanitise healthcare delivery, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain high standards across private hospitals in the state.
These approvals form part of Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda’s “Building Your Future” agenda, reflecting a comprehensive approach to sustainable development, investment attraction, and improved quality of life for the people of Katsina State.
