Katsina State government has condemned in strong terms bandit’s attack that led to the death of two persons and the abduction of two others in Mairuwa town of Faskari local government area of the state.
Governor Dikko Umaru Radda made the condemnation when he paid a condolence visit to the families of Alhaji Abdulhamid popularly known as Lado Mairuwa, and one Sani Abdullahi who was shot dead by the bandits.
The governor who was represented by the secretary to the state government (SSG) Barr. Abdullahi Garba Faskari, described the attack as “callousness by savage criminals” which must be condemned.
He prayed to God to grant mercy and eternal rest to the souls of the slain victims and ensure the safety as well as the return of those abducted, expressing his government’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of the citizens.
Radda admonished people to fervently pray particularly in this sacred month of Ramadan for normalcy to return in the frontline areas of the state and the country as a whole.
According to a press statement issued by the director of press in the office of the Secretary to the state government, Abdullahi Aliyu Yar’Adua, the governor said that the bandits who attacked the residence of late Alhaji Lado Mairuwa, last Saturday had also abducted one of his wives and his 14-year-old daughter.
“Narrating the ordeal, Umar Abdulhamid, an 18-year-old son of the late Alhaji Lado, said the armed men stormed their premises around 8:00 pm last Saturday while they were observing the evening prayer.
“He said that the bandits fired shots sporadically and tried to whisk away his father who vehemently resisted, and they shot him to death instantly,” the statement reads.
