The Katsina State Police Command has intensified its crackdown against sexual violence, arresting 49 suspected rapists in February alone.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, on behalf of the State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, highlighted the Command’s commitment to tackling crimes against women and children.

The arrests were part of a broader effort that saw a total of 144 suspects apprehended for various offences, including armed robbery, culpable homicide, and kidnapping.

Additionally, police operations led to the rescue of 105 kidnap victims and the neutralisation of four armed bandits.

Other key achievements in February achieved by the Command included the recovery of four locally-made guns,13 pump-action cartridges, five motorcycles and 13 rustled animals.
