The director general (DG) of the agency, Retired Maj. Garba Yahaya-Rimi disclosed this yesterday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Katsina.

Yahaya-Rimi said that the recruitment was to strengthen the staff capacity of the agency for optimal performance in reducing traffic offences by road users in the state.

According to him, the recruitment of additional 304 staff was to complement the effort of 96 recruited by the previous administration that established the authority.

He revealed that the newly recruited personnel have since concluded training and were deployed to join the first group in carrying out the mandate of the authority.

The KASROTA DG explained that the agency planned to ensure that traffic officers were present in all the 34 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state to maintain traffic laws and order.

Yahaya-Rimi said that its personnel were now present across 13 of the 34 LGAs of the state, maintaining that more personnel would be recruited to cover the remaining areas.

He reminded road users that KASROTA was not established as a source of revenue, but a service provider to ensure the safety of lives of the citizens. (NAN)
