The Speaker of the Nigerian Youth Parliament (NYP), Rt. Hon. Aliyu Zakari Idris has announced that the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Dr Dikko Umar Radda, has approved the hosting of members of the Nigerian Youth Parliament for their Second Plenary Sitting, scheduled to take place from November 30 to December 4, 2025.

According to the Speaker, the decision by the Katsina State Government underscores its commitment to youth development, democratic participation, and inclusive governance.

He noted that Katsina State has remained a strong advocate of empowering young people through capacity-building programmes, leadership exposure, and civic engagement.

The four-day plenary session will bring together youth parliamentarians from all states to deliberate on key national issues, present motions, review committee reports, and engage stakeholders on youth-focused policies. The sitting will also provide an opportunity for members to interact with state officials, community leaders, and policymakers to strengthen collaboration toward national development.

Governor Radda—known for his administration’s investments in security reforms, education, economic empowerment, and rural transformation—is expected to deliver a keynote address at the opening session, where the legislative agenda for the sitting will be outlined.

The Speaker expressed appreciation to the Katsina State Government for agreeing to host the Parliament, describing it as a gesture that will inspire young leaders and deepen Nigeria’s democratic culture. He further noted that the plenary would serve as a strategic platform to amplify the voices of young Nigerians and promote constructive legislative engagement.
