Kebbi State government has kicked off a campaign against measles.
It deployed 1,200 personnel to the 225 wards of the state for the exercise.
At the flag-off of the campaign in Birnin Kebbi, the deputy governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Umar Tafida, called on the communities to support routine immunisation against infectious diseases.
Represented by the head of service, Alhaji Malami Shekare, Tafida said the Measles Rubellia Vaccination is a game-changer in the fight against the disease, which, if fully administered, will significantly reduce the scourge in the state.
He noted that the government is optimistic that the vaccination campaign will create a healthier, more prosperous future for the people in the communities.
The deputy governor, therefore, urged the people to take advantage of the lifesaving intervention by ensuring that children, families and communities are protected from the scourge of Measles and other communicable diseases in Kebbi.
He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to enhancing healthcare and securing a healthier, brighter future for all the people of Kebbi State.
The World Health Organisation ( WHO) has provided adequate community health workers to cover 1,400 vaccination centres for the campaign across the 225 wards in the state.
