Kebbi State governor, Nasir Idris, said his administration has completely eliminated casualisation appointment in the State Civil Service.
He stated this during the Workers’ Day celebrations held at Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi.
According to him, when he assumed office as governor in 2023, he received a number of casual staff in the health, education and other sectors and during a town hall meeting, they complained bitterly concerning their plights.
“I immediately ordered for their full absorption into the workforce as permanent staff in their respective places of work.
“Hence, I stopped casual appointments in the State Civil service completely,” the governor said.
The governor further disclosed that within three years, his administration has spent over N10 billion on gratuities for retired civil servants in addition to the prompt payment of salaries and clearance of inherited backlogs.
He noted that his government placed high premium on workers’ welfare particularly on payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities, which he said is a responsibility, not a burden.
