Kebbi State government has approved the enrolment of 50,000 vulnerable people into its Social Health Insurance Scheme  to expand access to quality healthcare and advancing Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

The executive secretary of the Kebbi State Contributory Health Care Management Agency (KECHEMA), Dr Murtala Muhammad Dandare, disclosed the approval on behalf of Governor Nasir Idris.

He said the enrolment would significantly improve the state’s health indices, strengthen its performance among states in the Northern Governors Forum, and accelerate progress towards achieving UHC.

According to the executive secretary (ES), the enrolment would soon commence across the 21 local government areas of the state, targeting about 200 eligible beneficiaries from each of the 225 wards in the state.

Dandare appealed to heathcare providers in the state to remain calm over the challenges affecting the implementation of the Basic Health Care Provision Funds( BHCPF).
