The Kebbi State government has said it would provide adequate security at the Federal Government College Birnin Yauri ahead of resumption of academic activities.
Governor Nasir Idris stated this when he received the Emir of Yauri, Dr Zayyanu Abdullahi Muhammad who paid him a solidarity visit at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
He said before the resumption of normal academic activities in the college, government must meet with relevant stakeholders including the management of the college on how best to provide security in order to prevent attacks by bandits.
He added that as a teacher himself, there was no way his government would allow the college to collapse or die due to attacks by bandits.
The emir had earlier informed the governor that he was at the Government House to affirm solidarity with his administration.
FGC Birnin Yauri was attacked by bandits two years ago and over 100 students were abducted but released later with the aid of the state government, other stakeholders and parents of the victims.
