The UNFPA’s country representative, Mr Chris Macurley, and his team were in Kebbi for a three-day working visit to meet with officials of the humanitarian affairs ministry on how best the organisation can intervene in poverty and other social issues.

Macurley told the stakeholders at the meeting that they were in Kebbi State between July 15 and 17, 2024, to collaborate with the ministry and other stakeholders to identify areas of need and challenges for possible intervention in the state.

The schedule of their activities showed that the team visited the emir of Gwandu, Muhammad Iliyasu Bashar, at his palace in Birnin Kebbi on Monday.

They proceeded to Yauri and Zuru emirates and some communities in the two emirates for possible intervention.

Earlier, the ministry permanent secretary, Yahaya Riskuwa, who welcomed the UNFPA officials on behalf of the ministry‘s commissioner, Alhaji Muhammadu Hamidu Jarkuka, told the team of the Governor Idris-led administration‘s intention to collaborate with reliable organisations or individuals to bring development to the state.
