Kebbi Group Defends Assembly’s Donation Of Cars To Tinubu, Idris Campaign

A group of concerned citizens in Kebbi State has defended the state House of Assembly’s recent donation of 25 vehicles to the Tinubu/Kaura 2-Terms (TKT) campaign movement, describing the criticism of the gesture as “misplaced, disingenuous, and hypocritical.”

The TKT campaign movement is a political initiative to secure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Nasir Idris in the 2027 general elections.

In a statement released on Monday and signed by Saidu Musa Ribah on behalf of Concerned Citizens for Progress and Continuity, the group stated that the state legislators’ donation was well within their constitutional rights and reflected their “unwavering support for good governance and continuity of transformative leadership.”

“We, the concerned citizens of Kebbi state, wish to respond to the recent criticism by certain civil society organisations and opposition parties regarding the donation of 25 vehicles by the Kebbi State House of Assembly to the Tinubu/Kaura 2-Terms (TKT) campaign movement,” the statement read.

“First, we find the backlash not only disingenuous but also deeply hypocritical. The donation is within the constitutional rights of elected legislators to identify with any political movement which aligns with their values, vision, and the interest of their constituents.”

The group praised Governor Nasir Idris for his “uncommon commitment” to infrastructural development, education, workers’ welfare, and rural transformation within his first two years in office.

It also applauded President Tinubu’s economic reforms and his administration’s federal appointments that have “favoured Kebbi State as indicators of inclusive leadership.”

“Supporting their continuity is not only wise—it is in the best interest of our collective future,” the group said.

The statement emphasised that the TKT Movement is a grassroots political mobilisation platform focused on consolidating developmental gains, not a private or self-serving enterprise as some critics have alleged.

According to the group, the donated vehicles will be deployed for effective political outreach, community engagement, and voter awareness, especially in rural communities that are typically left out of elite-driven political discourse.

“To the civil society groups and opposition figures quick to condemn this act of political expression, why have you been curiously silent whenever decisive support is given to causes that reflect the will of the majority?” the group asked, accusing the critics of selective outrage and inconsistency.

It insisted that the people of Kebbi—including youths, women, farmers, and traders—have witnessed the current administration’s real impact and will continue to support any legitimate and lawful initiative that sustains that trajectory.

“We call on the public to ignore these calculated distractions and instead pay attention to the real issues: good governance, security improvement, infrastructure development, and the democratic right to continue to support government and movement of choice,” the group concluded.
