Lakurawa bandits have ambushed a vehicle of military personnel and Mobile Policemen in Giron Masa Village in Shanga local government area of Kebbi State, killing nine soldiers, one policeman, and burning down their patrol operational vehicle.

Our Correspondent gathered that the incident occurred on Tuesday night, when the joint patrol team was on duty to protect the lives and property of residents in the area.

Governor Nasir Idris has received the report of the incident and has hurriedly visited the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi, where the corpses of nine deceased soldiers and one Policeman were kept in the mortuary.

He also visited the ward where two other Security personnel are receiving medical attention as a result of injuries they sustained following a gunshot.

Idris, however, described the incident as highly unfortunate and very painful, noting that it was a great loss not only to the security agencies but also to the entire people of Kebbi State and the nation.

From the hospital, Governor Idris proceeded to Giron Masa, where the incident occurred and inspected the vehicles burned by the bandits.

Governor Idris also revealed that he would rush to Abuja to meet with the Chief of Army Staff to formally convey the government and people of Kebbi State’s condolences over the losses.
