The Kebbi State government, in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady, is set to marry off 600 couples on July 27, 2026.
The chairman of the main organising committee of the wedding, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammed Argungu Jarman Kabi, announced this to journalists in Birnin Kebbi yesterday.
He said committees have been appointed for the successful conduct of the mass wedding, which will be for orphans, widows and those in need of marriage from poor backgrounds.
Argungu further said that based on the committee’s reports, the couples, comprising 300 males and 300 females, were drawn from the 225 wards across the 21 local government areas of the state.
He explained that the beneficiaries were tested at various hospitals to determine their health condition and that a bride price of N250,000 would be given to the 300 female couples during the ceremony.
“The initiative is part of the Kaura-led administration’s people-oriented government, which takes care of its citizens,” Argungu said.
