Following the closing date of payment of Hajj fares by the National Hajji Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on Friday, Kebbi State governor, Nasir Idris, has assisted state’s Pilgrims Welfare Agency (PWA) with N10 billion to secure more Hajj seats for intending pilgrims in the state.
Chairman of PWA in Kebbi State, Alhaji Faruku Musa, made this known while briefing newsmen on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi.
He said that before the intervention of the governor with funds, only a small number of pilgrims met the deadline.
“But with this N10 billion from His Excellency, we have secured 1,300 additional seats from NAHCON so that any interested intending pilgrim from the state can come to the agency to buy or pay for the seat.
“By this development, we are requesting all interested intending pilgrims fulfil the registration requirements from December 6 to December 16,” he said.
According to him, the Hajj airlifting from Kebbi to Saudi Arabia would commence on May 3, 2026 and warned that no intending pilgrim from the state would be allowed to carry illegal drugs or items to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He commended the governor for assisting the agency with the amount noting that without the intervention, the 2026 Hajj exercise in the state would have been challenging.
He therefore appealed to intending pilgrims to, as a matter of urgency, complete their registration fees in time.
