Kebbi Releases N309.5m To Students Abroad

Kebbi State government has released N309,584,041.80 to its indigenes studying abroad.
Governor Nasir Idris, who approved the amount, said the money is for the payment of foreign scholarship to indigenes of the state studying in India and Egypt respectively.

The spokesman of the governor, Ahmed Idris who issued a statement yesterday in Birnin Kebbi, capital of Kebbi State quoted the Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Abubakar-Tunga, while announcing the development in his office in Birnin Kebbi.

According to the statement, the sum of N228,150,148 is for 63 students studying in India, while N81,433,893:80 is for 23 students studying in Egypt.

It added that the remaining 50 foreign students shall have their expenses settled in due course.

The statement further indicated that, in February 2024, Governor Idris paid for the local scholarships of all the state students studying in 36 tertiary institutions across the country.
