A Member House of Representatives, Birnin Kebbi, Kalgo and Bunza Federal Constituency, Hon Ibrahim Mohammed, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)
In a statement on Tuesday, the lawmakers said the PDP has been grappling with unresolved leadership challenges and prolonged litigations, which have significantly weakened its capacity to function as a credible political platform.
Stressing that the situation has forced him to leave the party, Mohammed added that it was increasingly difficult for committed members to effectively contribute to the party’s growth and democratic responsibilities.
He however said he joined the APC after wide consultations with his constituents and key political stakeholders, adding that the decision to join APC was taken in the best interest of his constituents as well as his ability to deliver effective representation.
He confirmed that his resignation letter has been duly submitted to the PDP Ward Chairman in Nasarawa 1 Ward, Birnin Kebbi under Birnin Kebbi local government area of Kebbi State while the Speaker of the House of Representatives has also been formally notified of his defection.
