Kebbi To Hold Local Govt Poll August 31

The Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC) has fixed August 31 for the conduct of elections into the 21 local government areas of the state.

A statement signed by the chairman of the state electoral umpire, Hon Aliyu Muhammed made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi said the commission fixed the date for the conduct of the local government council election to fill the positions of local government chairmen and councilors in the state.

According to him, obtaining nomination forms, contacts and all other relevant documents in relation to the election are to be made through the secretariat of the commission at 4, Jalingo Crescent GRA, Birnin Kebbi.

It added that this is to enable the political parties, stakeholders and the general public to take note and commence all necessary preparations in respect of the elections.

Muhammed, therefore, solicited the support of all stakeholders and the general public towards conducting a free, fair, credible and an acceptable local government council election in the state.
