Kebbi State government, through the management of the College Of Health Sciences and Technology, Jega, has resolved to recall 250 students who are victims of the Octoober 14, 2024 riot, to enable them to continue their studies to graduate with National Diploma (ND) qualifications.
At a joint press briefing held at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Higher Education, Provost of the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Jega, Hussaini Aliyu revealed that the recall was part of the Kaura-led administration’s readiness to support youths in obtaining qualitative education rather than to become idle.
Aliyu also revealed that for the recalled students to secure their qualification, Governor Idris has approved N60 million for the accreditation of eight academic programmes in the College by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
The courses include Community Health, Environmental Health, Pharmacy, Public Health, Medical Laboratory, Health Information Management, Health Education and Promotion and Nutrition and Balance Diet.
The provost noted that the approval was in fulfilment of Governor Idris’ commitment to revitalising tertiary education in the state.
“The management of the college, in collaboration with the Governing Council and the Ministry for Higher Education, remains fully aligned with the Kaura-led administration’s educational transformation and rejuvenation vision, focus on quality, accessible and institutional excellence, “the provost said.
