Veteran Nollywood actor, Vitalis Ndubuisi, has cautioned the public against oversharing personal struggles, noting that constant disclosure rarely brings the expected relief.
In a video message shared online, the veteran actor described discretion as one of the most significant lessons he has learned. He argued that many people mistakenly believe that explaining their challenges to others will provide comfort or solutions.
“One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in life is to stop telling people everything that is wrong with you. It’s a big mistake to think that after explaining what you’re going through, people will offer relief,” Ndubuisi stated.
The actor further explained that since no one can truly feel the weight of another person’s burden, such outpourings often achieve very little. He warned that instead of attracting help, oversharing can sometimes lead to social distance, as people may begin to avoid those they perceive as being constantly troubled.
“Nobody truly understands the full weight of your problem since they are not there with you. Sometimes, after explaining everything to them, they even start distancing themselves from you,” he added.
