The announcement was made by Kenny Keke Ogungbe, the company’s CEO, who highlighted that the globally influential new Afrobeats movement would also be celebrating its 25-year milestone under the Kennis Music banner.

In a press release, Ogungbe took the opportunity to honour the trailblazing artists who paved the way for the current success of Afrobeats on the global stage. He acknowledged figures like Junior and Pretty, Remedies (Eedris Abdulkareem, Eddy Remedy & Tony Tetuila), Plantashun Boyz (2face Idibia, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Tiwa Savage, Kizz Daniel, Olamide, Mr. Eazy, and others) for their exceptional contributions in establishing Afrobeats as a global brand.

“It all began with pioneers like Junior and Pretty, Remedies (Eedris Abdulkareem, Eddy Remedy & Tony Tetuila), Plantashun Boyz (2face Idibia, now known globally as 2Baba, Black Face & Faze),” he reminisced.

Ogungbe also recognized the contemporary impact of artists such as Rema, Asake, Ayra Star, Seyi Vibes, and others, applauding them for further solidifying Nigerian music as an iconic and internationally recognized genre.

He extended his appreciation to media houses that played pivotal roles in the journey, including Ray Power FM, Africa Independent Television (AIT), and BEN TV in London, UK, which served the European Union (EU) region.

“Congratulations and well done to you all. I wish for the enduring reign of Afrobeats and your continued success. Thank you to all Nigerians at home and in the diaspora. Congratulations and compliments of the season,” concluded Baba Keke, the award-winning broadcaster.

Kenny Keke Ogungbe further announced that plans for the grand global celebration of Kennis Music’s 25th anniversary and the new Afrobeats movement will soon be unveiled.

Kennis Music holds a significant place in the history of Afrobeats, having paved the way for global recognition by discovering and nurturing previously undiscovered Nigerian talents like Tuface, also known as 2Baba, Eddy Remedy, Tony Teuila, Eedris Abdulkareem, and others.
