Lagos State governor Babajide Sanwo-olu has said the state would do everything to ensure those behind the kidnapping of the three Fouani brothers who were rescued by the police on Tuesday are apprehended and brought to book.
Sanwo-olu who said he has met with the freed Lebanese at their residence at Banana Island, saying the kidnapping has sent a wrong signal about the state.
He said the perpetrators of the abduction of the Lebanese won’t go scot free, explaining that contrary to some reports that they were kidnapped somewhere in Marina the kidnapping took place on the high sea.
“We are on top of it, security operatives are combing everywhere, it is a top signal, Lagos will not condone it,” the governor said.
Sanwo-olu said this when the leadership of the Baptist convention led by its African President Rev. Israel Akanbi paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Alausa,Ikeja yesterday.
The governor also charged all religious leaders to ensure they play their role ,so that the government can bring good governance to the people, reminding them of their roles as stakeholders in government.
The governor maintained that they have a crucial role to play in government, adding that they must ensure there is a symbiotic communication between them and government.
He also assured the leadership of the Baptist convention that the state would do everything to ensure that the leaders of the church coming from across the globe to the state enjoy their stay.
Earlier, Reverend Akanbi in his speech told the governor that the leaders of the church across the globe shall be having their annual gathering in Lagos at Eko Hotels and Suites in July,2024, adding that Lagos was chosen as the venue because of the relative peace in the state.
Akanbi also commended the state governor for the role he is playing to ensure relative peace in the state, just as he appreciated him for the palliative measure introduced by his administration to cushion the effect hardship experienced by Nigerians as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy.
