An abducted medical doctor, Dr. Ibrahim Tahir, has regained his freedom after his family paid N50million ransom to his abductors.

The victim was kidnapped alongside his younger brother on January 2 at their residence along City Pride Road, Igbira Camp, Auchi, Edo State, while opening the gate to their compound.

Unfortunately, the younger brother’s dead body was found by Orley River, Down City Pride road, Igbira Camp, Auchi, on January 5, as he was said to have been killed by his abductors.

The father of the victim said that the ransom was paid in two tranches of N20 million and N30 million before his second son was released on Wednesday morning at about 8am.

He said that it took the efforts of the family, donations from non-governmental bodies, friends and others to raise the ransom for his son’s freedom.

He said a bullet also bruised his son’s leg, while he was told by the Vigilantes and hunters, who laid ambush for the kidnappers before his release, that one of the kidnappers also sustained gunshot wounds.

He said, “My son has been released by the kidnappers after we paid N50 million. I feel good that he has been released, but I also lost another son.
