The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has concluded arrangements for its House of Representatives primary elections scheduled for Friday, May 15, 2026, as aspirants across the state intensify last-minute consultations and political engagements.

Checks across the nine federal constituencies indicate heightened political activity, with contenders stepping up meetings with party stakeholders ahead of the crucial party primaries, particularly in constituencies with multiple aspirants.

In Idah Federal Constituency, three aspirants are in contention, including the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. David Zachariah; the Kogi State Coordinator of the City Boys Movement, Mark Ogah; and Uchola Ojobane.

In Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro Federal Constituency, the ticket is being contested by Abel Egbita, Sanusi Usman, and the incumbent, Abdullahi Ali Halims.

For Yagba Federal Constituency, House of Representatives member Leke Abejide, who recently defected to the APC, will face Babagbemi Adejola in the race for the party’s ticket.

In Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, the incumbent, Arch. Salman Idris, is contesting against a female aspirant, Mrs. Toyin Omole.

Similarly, in Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency, a former Commissioner for Works in the state is expected to battle M.I. Onimisi Okami.

However, consensus arrangements have reportedly been reached in some constituencies, including Lokoja/Kogi, Ajaokuta, and Dekina/Bassa, where party stakeholders have agreed on single aspirants.

A member of the State Working Committee of the APC, who spoke in confidence, assured party members of a smooth and credible exercise.

“I can assure you that all necessary arrangements have been put in place for the smooth conduct of the primary election. Our party has effective internal mechanisms for handling its affairs, and we are confident of a seamless exercise,” the source said.

Efforts to reach the Kogi State APC Chairman, Engr. Aliyu Momoh Ezeh, for official comment were unsuccessful as his telephone line did not connect.
