The youth wing of the Igala Cultural Development Association (ICDA) has warned the national president of the association, Mr Sadiq Ahmodu Abubakar not to speak on their behalf.
According to the youths, any decision Abubakar takes without consulting them is a nullity.
The youths urge Abubakar to cease his controversial endorsements and do the right thing.
ICDA is the highest socio-cultural organisation in the Igala kingdom of Kogi State. It plays a pivotal role in determining the political fortunes of any individual from the region aspiring to hold any political office in the state.
In a statement issued by the youth leader of the association, Mr Akoh Ojomakpene Moses, called on the public, especially the Igala people, to disregard Abubakar’s endorsement.
They accused Abubakar of promoting divisive and self-serving agenda within the Igala community and disrespecting traditional leadership, particularly that of the Attah of Igala, HRM Matthew Okpanachi.
“The ICDA has been entangled in internal conflicts, resulting in the suspension of key meetings. The former Attah of Igala Kingdom, HRM Michael Ameh Oboni, appointed a caretaker committee to address these issues and oversee the association’s affairs.
“However, the recent endorsement of Muritala by Mr. Sadiq’s faction has raised concerns about personal interests overshadowing the association’s objectives.
“We have expressed doubts about the endorsement of Muritala, citing concerns about his academic qualifications and alleged questionable dealings with the state governor.
“We also stress the importance of conducting thorough due diligence before supporting any candidate for the governorship election, emphasizing the need to make an informed decision that serves the best interests of the Igala people,” the statement added.
