A traditional ruler, the Ohimege Igu of Kotonkarfe, His Royal Majesty (HRM) Saidu Akawu Salihu, has commended Kogi State governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his infrastructural development drive and described him as a “worthy son and leader” of the people.
He made the commendation during the governor’s visit to his palace in Kotonkarfe, where he lauded Ododo’s performance and noted that the visit underscored the governor’s strong connection with the people.
On behalf of the kingdom, the Ohimege expressed appreciation for the administration’s impactful governance, noting that its achievements were evident not only within the palace but also across the state’s 21 local government areas.
“We are lucky and proud to have you as our governor,” the royal father said.
Salihu particularly praised the governor’s proactive approach to security, noting that improved safety measures had enabled the residents to sleep peacefully.
He also lauded the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, highlighting the prompt payment of salaries and allowances, which he said had ended the era of percentage payments in the state.
The Ohimege further applauded the governor’s support for the traditional institutions, drawing parallels with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s approach to strengthening traditional leadership.
He thanked the governor on behalf of the Kogi State Council of Chiefs for his continued respect and collaboration with royal fathers.
On the ongoing palace remodelling, the monarch described the project as a testament to the governor’s commitment to infrastructure and good governance.
He expressed optimism that the palace would be completed soon, adding that the people look forward to celebrating the forthcoming Sallah festival in the upgraded facility.
In his remarks, Governor Ododo appreciated the warm reception and commended the Ohimege for his leadership and efforts in maintaining peace and security in the area.
The governor said his visit was to thank the people of Kotonkarfe across all 11 wards for their continued support, as well as to inspect the ongoing palace remodeling project to ensure quality delivery and value for public funds.
He assured the monarch that the project would be completed before the next Sallah, promising it would rank among the best in the country.
