The Kogi State Government has approved the early payment of March salaries to civil servants ahead of the forthcoming Sallah celebration.
Governor Usman Ododo, approved the release of the salaries to enable workers in the state to adequately prepare for the Eid-el-Fitr festivities.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday in Lokoja by the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo.
Fanwo said the gesture underscores the administration’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of workers, particularly during significant religious celebrations.
“The early payment reflects the administration’s consistent commitment to prioritising the welfare of workers and ensuring that members of the state’s workforce are adequately supported, especially during important religious festivities,” the commissioner stated.
He noted that feedback from civil servants across the state indicated appreciation for the move, adding that the early payment would help workers make necessary preparations for the Sallah celebration.
“The Kogi State Government assures the workforce that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo will continue to place a high premium on workers’ welfare as the dedicated and dependable civil service continues to deliver quality services to the good people of Kogi State,” he added.
Fanwo also extended goodwill to Muslim faithful, wishing them a successful Ramadan fast and a joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
Eid-el-Fitr, which marks the end of the Muslim fasting period of Ramadan, is expected to be observed next Friday, subject to the sighting of the moon.
