Leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi West Senatorial District have reaffirmed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the senator representing the district, Senator Sunday Karimi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was made on Sunday at an expanded stakeholders’ meeting held at Rivaton Hotel, Lokoja, where party leaders, elected officials, political appointees, youth and women leaders from the seven local government areas of the district reviewed political developments and strategies for strengthening the party.
The stakeholders, led by Buhari Lokoja, State APC youth leader, commended Senator Karimi, who also doubles as chairman, Senate service committee, for what the group described as effective representation, sustained engagement with constituents and efforts at attracting development projects to communities across Kogi West.
They also applauded President Tinubu for his commitment to improving security and the welfare of Nigerians, particularly residents of Kogi West, expressing confidence in the administration’s ongoing reforms.
Addressing the gathering, Senator Karimi thanked party leaders and members for the confidence reposed in him, assuring them of his commitment to providing quality representation through impactful legislation, effective oversight and constituency projects.
He urged APC members to remain united and avoid actions capable of creating divisions within the party, stressing that unity remains the APC’s greatest strength as preparations begin for the next electoral cycle.
According to the senator, the successes recorded by the APC in Kogi West over the years were achieved through collective efforts, mutual respect and the shared commitment of party faithful to the growth and development of the district.
Karimi also charged stakeholders to intensify grassroots mobilisation to consolidate the party’s support base and ensure another successful outing for the APC in the 2027 elections.
Speaking on security, the senator commended President Tinubu for initiating discussions on the establishment of state police, describing the move as a bold step towards addressing the country’s security challenges.
He said previous administrations had avoided the issue, adding that the Tinubu administration had demonstrated the political will to tackle the matter in the interest of national security.
“Previous governments were afraid to talk about state police, but President Tinubu has taken the bull by the horns. This is how to prioritise the security and welfare of the people. The establishment of state police will greatly strengthen the country’s security architecture,” he said.
Several stakeholders who spoke at the meeting pledged their continued loyalty to Senator Karimi and expressed confidence in his leadership, describing his performance in office as deserving of sustained support.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by party leaders and members to strengthen the APC in Kogi West, sustain internal unity and work collectively towards delivering victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
