Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Most Rev. Mathew Hassan Kukah will on Thursday, March 21, 2024 deliver the University of Calabar (UNICAL) 36th convocation lecture.
The institution’s vice chancellor, Prof Florence Obi, disclosed this yesterday in Calabar during the pre-convocation media briefing.
She said the convocation lecture is titled: “Harmonising Diversities for National Development”, adding that it would take place at the University’s International Conference Centre, Calabar.
Obi said Kukah is an individual who had all his life worked towards the development of mankind besides rendering his services in the vineyard of God.
The VC said as part of the activities to mark the convocation, the minister of education, Prof Tahir Mamman and officials of the ministry would commission five projects executed with money from the Tertiary Education Fund (TETFund).
Obi said the projects which comprise three pavilions and two hostels are worth over N2 billion, stressing that the institution will also award first class degrees to 32 of its graduates at the event.
Obi said about 8,415 students would receive first degrees, 438 doctorate degrees and 754 masters’ degrees.
She said the award of the degrees would hold on Friday while the doctorate degrees come up on Saturday.
