The 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso has accused the All Progressive Congress (APC)-led Federal Government of succumbing to ill-advice from those he described as enemies of Kano State.

Kwankwaso made the remark during the flag-off ceremony for the construction of 82 kilometres rural road networks in his hometown of Madobi by the Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The accusation follows the ongoing Emirate tussle where federal security agencies have reportedly been supporting the deposed Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero.

Kwankwaso, a former governor of the state, emphasised that the people of Kano would not tolerate any attempts to undermine the state’s constituted authority.

“We have mass followership because people believe in us; we are pro-people, and the NNPP administration is determined to serve them wherever they vote for it,” Kwankwaso declared.

He stressed the resolve of Kano citizens to support the state governor in achieving his goals despite the alleged interference.

The former NNPP presidential candidate further described the alleged enemies of the state as mentally unstable in advising the Federal Government to embrace extreme measures, including the imposition of a ‘state of emergency’ in Kano, vowing that “peace-loving, and committed people of Kano will resist it.”

Kwankwaso also addressed the political climate leading up to the 2027 elections, accusing some politicians of initiating disruptive schemes.

He vowed that the NNPP would not allow themselves to be unnecessarily crushed by these elements, stating, “We dare anybody who thinks he can victimise us politically to go and be rest assured that we are ready for the fight.”

The NNPP national leader cautioned the Federal Government against listening to unpatriotic politicians from Kano, warning that such actions would lead to failure.

“We are open to dialogue, truce, and reconciliation, but we will not accept intimidation and political harassment of any sort. We know how to play politics and we have all it takes to protect ourselves from any evil,” Kwankwaso warned.
