Spokesperson of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Habibu Mohammad has declared the New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP) in Kano State effectively dead, following the exit of it’s former presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Kwankwaso resigned from NNPP on March 29 2026, and joined the African Democratic Congress, (ADC) on March 30, 2026.
Speaking on Arise TV, Mohammad said: “Everybody knows that the NNPP is synonymous with Kwankwaso, and him leaving NNPP automatically means that the NNPP is actually dead in Kano and maybe beyond Kano; it might be seen to be dead across the nation.
“And as for the second question—what does Kwankwaso mean to ADC now—just like what he meant for the NNPP in Kano, Kwankwaso will now be seen to be ADC in Kano State,” he said.
Mohammad however claimed that Kwankwaso’s move to the ADC will attract politicians from neighbouring states, strengthening the party locally and nationally ahead of the 2027 elections.
