A leading senatorial aspirant, Dr  Mohammed Ibrahim Ajia,  has withdrawn from the race for the Kwara Central senatorial seat.

He has consequently threw his weight behind the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in adherence to the consensus arrangement of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC).

Ajia announced his decision, through a statement signed by his director of  Communications and Strategy,  Abdulrahman Aliagan.

Ajia stated that “in deference to the consensus arrangement of our great party, I have decided to step down and fully support Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the Kwara Central Senatorial seat,” emphasizing that party unity and discipline must take precedence over individual ambition.

He affirmed his commitment to the party’s collective success, noting that “as a loyal party man, I am committed to working with all candidates that emerge and ensuring collective victory at all levels.”

Ajia also pledged his full support for the second term bid of President Bola Tinubu, declaring that “I pledge to work tirelessly for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the success of our party nationwide.”

Extending his loyalty beyond the senatorial race, Ajia assured that he would support any governorship candidate and other aspirants presented by the party, stressing that cohesion within party ranks remains essential for electoral success.
