The Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the appointment of Prof. Ademola Popoola as the chief medical director of the Thomas Adewumi Teaching Hospital, Omu-Aran in Irepodun local government area of the state.
Popoola’s appointment followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the government and Thomas Adewumi University, Oko, which officially converted the General Hospital in Omu-Aran to the a teaching hospital.
The commissioner for health, Dr. Amina El-Imam, in a statement said Popoola’s appointment represented a strategic step by the state government to provide visionary leadership that would drive the hospital towards global standards in medical training, research and service delivery.
El-Imam described the appointment as a bold initiative which would not only elevate Thomas Adewumi University’s medical training programmes but also expand access to quality healthcare services for the people of Kwara and beyond.
