Four Chinese nationals were yesterday abducted by bandits from a mining site in Yagba West local government area of Kogi State.

It came barely two weeks after three policemen and two vigilante members were killed in the same local government area by gunmen suspected to be bandits.

According to residents, many bandits ambushed the Chinese who were believed to be engaged in mining and abducted them, while an unidentified soldier was killed.

A mobile policeman attached to the Chinese was also shot.

“We are now living in fear. We cannot sleep in our homes and can no longer go to our farms. We want the government and security agents to come to our rescue. This is a systematic elimination of our people,” a resident said.

Kogi State police spokesman SP William Ovye Aya could not immediately confirm the incident, but promised to get back to this reporter.
