The 16th Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) , Kwara State Command, Abbas Nda Mohammed as assumed duties.
Mohammed’s appointment followed the redeployment of his predecessor, Commandant Bala Bawa Bodinga, to the NSCDC national headquarters.
The spokesperson of the NSCDC in the state, Ayoola Shola, described the new Commandant as a seasoned officer with over two decades of experience in security operations.
Before his latest posting, Abbas served as Commandant at Zone 4 headquarters in Minna, Niger State.
Speaking shortly after assuming duties, Mohammed assured the people of the state of renewed efforts to protect lives and property, as well as safeguard critical national assets across the state.
He stressed that intelligence-led operations would be strengthened to tackle emerging security threats.
He issued a stern warning to criminal elements, vandals and economic saboteurs, declaring that the state would no longer be conducive for unlawful activities.
“Kwara State will not be a safe haven for criminals. We are fully prepared to deploy all necessary operational strategies to ensure the safety and security of lives and property,” he said.
He also pledged to deepen collaboration with other security agencies, traditional rulers and relevant stakeholders to maintain peace and stability in the state.
He called on residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid crime prevention.
