Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Kwara State, has appealed to the state government to facilitate the passage of the Local Government Autonomy Bill before the state House of Assembly.
The passage of the bill, NULGE noted, will give the people at the grassroots a new lease of life.
The secretary of NULGE in the state, Comrade Terry Henry made the appeal during an interview with LEADERSHIP Friday in Ilorin, the state capital.
Henry added that the passage of the bill will bring more development to the rural communities across the state.
He urged Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq, whom he described as a democrat, to support the passage of the bill.
Henry equally urged members of the state House of Assembly to do the will of their people and pass the local government autonomy bill into law as done by their colleagues in some other states of the federation.
He said that timely passage of the bill, especially now that the 2023 general election is fast approaching, will further endear the governor to the workers.
The NULGE’s scribe, however, praised Governor AbdulRazaq for the prompt payment of workers salaries, including backlog of salaries owed workers by the previous administrations in the state.
