The Kwara State government has procured modern radiology equipment for the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH), restoring full radiological services after months of departmental upgrades and refurbishment.
LEADERSHIP reports that the acquisition of the new equipment formed part of the government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve diagnostic capacity across the state.
With the new installation completed, the Radiology Department of KWASUTH has resumed full operations, offering patients access to essential imaging services within the tertiary hospital.
The chief medical director of KWASUTH, Dr Bola Ahmed, described the development as a major milestone for the institution and the state’s healthcare system.
He noted that the absence of functional and sophisticated radiology equipment previously constrained effective diagnosis and treatment at the facility.
“This new equipment marks a turning point for our hospital. Installation and technical testing have been completed, and trained personnel are now in place to begin full operations,” he said.
He explained that the upgrade would reduce the burden on patients who previously sought radiological investigations in private facilities or travelled outside Kwara State for such services.
Patients and residents have welcomed the reopening of the department, describing the development as timely and essential.
They expressed optimism that the restored radiology services will shorten waiting time, improve diagnostic accuracy, and enhance overall healthcare delivery at KWASUTH.
