Kwararafa University, Wukari in Taraba State, has emerged winner of the North-East Regional Academic Quiz Competition organised by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), securing a place at the national finals scheduled for September 2026.
The registrar and chief executive officer of CIPM, Dr Oluwatoyin Naiwo, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Jalingo.
He noted that only the first-place winner from each of the six geopolitical zones would qualify for the national competition.
According to Naiwo, five universities, including Kwararafa University, Wukari; Federal University Wukari; Modibbo Adama University, Yola; the University of Maiduguri; and Yobe State University from the North-East participated in the regional contest.
Reacting to the feat, the deputy dean, School of Management and Social Sciences, Kwararafa University, Dr Terzungwe Kokoh, expressed delight over the institution’s performance and commended the students for their commitment.
He disclosed that university scored 20 points to defeat the University of Maiduguri, which finished second with 15 points.
Dr. Kokoh expressed confidence that the university would also excel at the national competition, as preparations had already commenced, with special emphasis on strengthening the contestants’ Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills.
He also appreciated the university’s management for the confidence reposed in him to prepare and mentor the students throughout the competition.
