The Imo State chapter of Labour Party (LP) has announced the postponement of the party’s governorship primary to Saturday, April 15, 2023.

The chairman of the Labour Party Management Committee for Imo State, Prof Ukachukwu Awuzie, disclosed this to journalists in Owerri, yesterday evening.

He said the national leadership of the party had directed that the primaries already scheduled for Thursday, April 13, 2023 would now hold on Saturday, April 15, 2023.

According to him, the ward delegates election would take place on Thursday, to produce the delegates to vote during the primaries.

The former deputy governorship candidate disclosed that the mode of election is option A4 to ensure transparency and fair play.

Awuzie however warned mischief makers to stay clear of the process especially aspirants seeking to bribe delegates.

He said, “We will not tolerate vote buying or oath taking as it used to be. Anybody engaged in bribing delegates will be disqualified. We will ensure transparency, fair play and level playing ground for all aspirants.”
