Lafarge Africa Plc, in collaboration with Leadway Health, provided free breast health screenings on Thursday at the Primary Health Care Centre, Akerele, Surulere, Lagos State, as part of activities marking International Women’s Day 2026.

The programme aimed to increase awareness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection. Women who attended received professional screenings, health guidance, and education on adopting regular check-ups as a preventive measure.

Gabriel Pollyn, Head of Sustainability and Sponsorship at Lafarge Africa Plc, said the initiative “bridges gaps in access to information and healthcare services, encouraging women to take ownership of their health.” He noted that breast cancer, while prevalent worldwide, is highly treatable when detected early.

Dr Olukemi Albert-Udoh, Occupational Health Coordinator at Lafarge Africa Plc, explained the purpose and process of the screenings and encouraged participants to share knowledge with family and the wider community. Dr Atere Abisola, Team Lead, Client Services and Wellness at Leadway Health, also provided practical insights on the importance of early detection.
