Lagos State House of Assembly has reaffirmed its strong commitment to the welfare and well-being of every Lagosian.

This is even as it distributed food items to over 500 households, affirming the Assembly’s resolve to ensure that governance’s impact is felt across all corners of the state.

This initiative coincided with the 10th constituency stakeholders’ meetings across the state’s 40 constituencies, themed “Governance In Action: The Gain of The Renewed Hope Agenda.”

In addition to food support, 100 small petty traders received financial aid of N100,000 each. Through a partnership with Zenco Group of Companies, five deserving students were awarded full scholarships for their tertiary education. The event also saw the graduation of 200 youths from a summer holiday coding bootcamp conducted within the Deputy Speaker’s constituency.

In his speech, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, through the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Mojisola Meranda, who represents Apapa Constituency 1, said, “At our last stakeholders’ meeting, we addressed the issue of food security and proffered practical solutions. Today, we continue in that tradition of accountability and participatory governance.”

She added, “I think today’s event is beyond me as an individual. It is about the renewed agenda of our father, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We are here to showcase his achievements over the past two years. As his representatives and members of the Legislative Assembly, we are here to project and communicate what this administration has done—from the national level to the state, where we also play a role alongside the Governor and state lawmakers.”

Hon. Meranda emphasised the importance of grassroots engagement: “We are the closest to the people. That is why we have come to give accounts of what the President, the Governor, and I, as their representative in Apapa Constituency 1, have been able to do so far and share what this APC government plans to do soon.”
