The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State has called for the suspension of Chief Olabode George from the party over his alleged anti-party activities spanning two decades.

Chief George, a Board of Trustees (BoT) member of the opposition party, was overwhelmingly voted for suspension by the party members for allegedly causing disaffection within the party, which led to its losses in the 2023 elections in Lagos State.

At a meeting of Alimosho local government area chapter of the PDP, led by the acting chairman, Mrs Adeyemi, where recent happenings in the party were reviewed, the party held that “there is no crisis in Alimosho PDP and that Otunba Segun Adewale (Aeroland) has no problem with anyone except those conniving with those who worked against the party in the last election

“That Chief Olabode George’s attempt to instigate crisis in the party by using associates of Segun Adewale to attack him is highly condemnable.

“Chief Olabode George has done severe damage to the reputation and efforts of the party and well-meaning members of the party through his anti-party activities spanning over two decades.”

The party, however, noted that the purported suspension of Segun Adewale on the instruction of Chief George by a few excos in Alimosho LGA of the State was illegal, adding that, “the suspension of a member of the party can only be done at the ward level; the suspended exco members have no powers to suspend any member of the party because they are technically not members of the party while they are on suspension.”

The PDP members, therefore, expressed loss of confidence in the leadership of Chief Olabode George and passed a vote of no confidence on him, and that the assembly moved that the party should suspend him for his alleged anti-party activities having caused irreparable damage to the fortune of the party in the past.

The meeting was attended by ward chairmen, local government excos and stalwarts of the party across the state.
