Dr Larry Izamoje, Chairman of the Brila Group, has been confirmed as the esteemed chairman for this year’s Sportsville Special Recognition Award ceremony.

The announcement was made last night by Harry Iwuala, Chairman of the Organising Committee, following the finalisation of Dr Izamoje’s appointment.

The news has been met with widespread enthusiasm among committee members and event organisers. Mr Iwuala commented: “This is undoubtedly fantastic news for all of us. Dr Izamoje’s agreement to chair this year’s awards speaks volumes about the prestige and credibility of the Sportsville Special Recognition Award.”

He added, “On behalf of the Organising Committee and Sportsville Management, I extend our sincerest thanks to the Chairman of the Brila Group for this honour. We eagerly anticipate a thrilling ceremony on March 28th in Lagos.”

Dr Izamoje, himself a recipient of the inaugural award in 2020, expressed his admiration for the event’s growing reputation. “I believe the organisers are doing an excellent job with this annual ceremony. I’ve had the privilege of attending a couple of editions and must say I left with positive and memorable impressions each time. Kudos to my brother Frank Ilaboya for introducing this to our sports community.”

This year marks the 6th edition of the Sportsville Special Recognition Award, which commenced in Lagos in 2020. The organisers are set to unveil the nominees for this year’s awards at a global press conference in Lagos on Tuesday, March 10th, 2026.
