The family of late Sp. Edward Omale Akoh has donated 200 training manuals to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), in memory of their late father.

The book was presented to the deputy inspector-general of police in charge of training by the children of late Akoh, namely, Reverend Sister Mercy Akoh, Dr Jimmy Akoh and Rose Akoh.

Speaking at the event at the Force headquarters, Abuja, the son of the late Sp. Akoh, Dr Jimmy Akoh said the book, “The Real Detective” was  the last wish of his father, who envisioned a better policing system for Nigeria and decided to put his thoughts in book as training manual.

He said, “We are here on behalf of our mother and the entire Akoh family to present to you, some copies of the book ‘The Real Detective’ written from the personal and studied experiences of our dearly beloved father who died nine years ago on January 24th, 2014.

“As we present to you a gift of 200 copies of ‘The Real Detective’ , it is our hope that as you read, the Nigerian Police will not only see the ingenuity of one of their own, expressed in writing, but include this as one of the books used in the Police training colleges across Nigeria.  The family will be very grateful to be the publishers and suppliers and use the proceeds to establish a Foundation that would continue the passion our father had for caring for those in any kind of need.

“Sp. Akoh loved the Nigerian Police Force with a passion. In Nigeria where the average Nigerian policeman is almost expected to prove the worth of his noble profession, our dad was proud to announce that he was a police officer to those who did not know him as one (since he worked in the CID most of his time as a policeman). He knew his worth.

“Sp. Akoh was a deeply religious man and brought us up in the way of the Lord and lived what he preached to us and all. As a prostate cancer patient, which became multiple cancers, he was informed of his imminent death, determined not to take with him any knowledge or experience that would help another policeman, in his generosity, informed by his deep faith in God, he, with the help of his children, typed the words of this book in the last months of his life here on earth.”

Speaking on behalf of the Force, AIG Oyeyemi Adeyemi appreciated the family for the kind gesture and promised that the book will be put to good use. He also assured the family that all libraries in the Police Academy will get copies of the book where the police cadets and other officers will benefit from it.
