Asma’u Malami, the wife of the late Ambassador Shehu Malami, has said that she only approached the court for sharing of the deceased’s property.

Recall that a section of the media had reported that the Late Amb. Malami’s wife had dragged her stepson and stepdaughter to court over her late husband’s property.

But, a family source said that the late diplomatic’s wife was in court to seek an intervention for the sharing of the deceased’s property, which had been stalled and dogged by controversy.

According to the source, Mrs Malami was in court to seek explanation on the whereabouts of some properties located in Maitama in Abuja, plots of land also in Abuja, farm along with a house located at Mambila in Taraba State.

He said: “Hajiya Asma’u has lived in the deceased’s family house in Alkammawa area of Sokoto metropolis for over 40 years.

“Her stepchildren claimed that late Malami left behind a will that said these properties should not be shared but be given to one person who is the stepson.

“So, she is seeking court’s interpretation of the will, especially because in Islam, a will is not applicable when all sons and daughters of the deceased have rights to inherit their father’s property.

“She also wants to find out whether the will can apply to her and her children even after late Malami’s death,” the source disclosed.
