Thirty years after the release of their landmark album ‘The Score’, two founding members of the Fugees are reuniting for a special performance in Brazil.

Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean will headline a free Global Citizen concert on June 6 at Ipanema Beach as part of the organisation’s first-ever Rio Nature & Climate Week.

The event, hosted in partnership with Global Citizen, Instituto Natureza e Clima Brasol, the City of Rio de Janeiro and Re: wild, celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Fugees’ acclaimed 1996 album ‘The Score’.

Widely regarded as one of hip-hop’s defining records, ‘The Score’ featured hits including ‘Ready or Not’, ‘Killing Me Softly’, ‘Fu-Gee-La’ and ‘No Woman, No Cry’. The album topped the Billboard 200 and won Best Rap Album at the 1997 Grammy Awards before later earning six-times platinum certification from the RIAA.

“We can’t think of a better way to celebrate 30 years of The Score than taking action to make the world a better place, together with the beautiful people of Rio de Janeiro,” Wyclef Jean said in a statement. He also serves as a Global Citizen ambassador.

Missing from the reunion will be fellow Fugees member Pras Michel, who last month began serving a 14-year prison sentence following his 2023 conviction on charges including money laundering, conspiracy to defraud the U.S., witness tampering and illegal foreign lobbying.
