LAUTECH Graduates 2,754 Students

The management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State is set to graduate 2,754 students at the convocationĀ  slated for today.

Acting vice chancellor of the university, Professor Mojeed Olaide Liasu, who stated this at a press parley held at the Institution’s Council Chamber, saidt it had been a smooth sail since the Oyo State government secured full ownership of LAUTECH three years ago.

Ā The breakdown of the figures given by the acting VC showed that eight students have first class, whileĀ  332 were coasting home with second class upper degrees,Ā  another 766 will earn their degrees in the second class lower category.

Ā Liasu, who said 249 will finish in the third class category, added that the remaining 13 students are graduating with Passes.

Ā A total of 63 students are graduating in the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, with MBBS, while 1,286 are graduating from the Faculty of Nursing Sciences.

Ā Breakdown of the figure includes that 55 new Ph.D. holders are being minted while 1883 are graduating with Masters degrees.

Ā A cumulative total of 24 are also going home with postgraduate diplomas.

Ā According to him, this year’s convocation was unique in many ways as it would also include the investiture of the University’s 6th Chancellor, His Majesty Sir Ohna Sergeant Chidi Awuse, the Paramount ruler of Emouha Kingdom in Rivers State.

Ā Sir Awuse, the Nne-Nwe-Eli Emohua Xlll (Olo IV) is the first non-Yoruba to be the chancellor of the 33-year-old institution.
