The governor, in his speech, while flagging off the fertiliser distribution, said the 135 trucks contained eighty (80,000) bags of NPK and Urea for distribution to 40,000 beneficiaries, who would get two bags each.

Lawal stressed that the state government decided to give fertilizer free to farmers, considering the country’s current economic hardship.

He called on farmers to make the best use of the gesture by applying the fertiliser on their farms and not selling it at give-away prices.

The governor stressed that the state government has formed a committee of trusted personalities to ensure that the commodity is not diverted.

“I want to use this opportunity to call on those responsible for distributing the fertiliser to discharge their duty with fear of God”.

“I will not hesitate to deal with anyone found wanting during the distribution exercise of this free fertiliser”.

“I also want to call on those who benefited from this gesture to make sure that they apply the commodity in their farms”.

The Governor explained that his administration was doing everything humanly possible to rid the state of banditry and enable farmers to return to their farms..
