Hon. Peter Akpanke, the representative for the Obanliku/Bekwarra/Obudu Federal Constituency, donated N200,000 each to 12 constituents studying in various Nigerian Law schools.

According to him, the donation was in a bid to support education and alleviate financial challenges faced by students amidst the removal of the petroleum subsidy in the country.

The announcement came via a statement issued by Mr. Akobi Nelson, the Senior Special Assistant on Students Affairs to Akpanke. The statement, released in Abuja on Wednesday, detailed the lawmaker’s gesture as part of his commitment to the development of education within the constituency.

During the presentation of the financial aid to the beneficiaries, Akpanke urged the students to represent their constituency with honour and distinction. He noted that the assistance was a fulfilment of his promise during his campaign to contribute to the educational growth of the area, underscoring that the gesture was devoid of any political or ethnic affiliations.

Akpanke stressed the importance of providing unimpeded access to education, particularly during challenging times such as the recent removal of the petroleum subsidy, which has affected many citizens.

“We cherish education and one of the ways through which we can impact our society is to give unfettered access to education and assist our students,” stated the federal lawmaker, emphasising the significance of education in societal development.

Encouraging the beneficiaries to excel not only in their legal pursuits but also in their representation of the constituency, Akpanke urged them to utilise their legal knowledge and future expertise to contribute positively to their communities. He stressed the role they play in promoting justice and equity within society through their endeavours in the legal profession.
