Lawmaker Wants Kwara Ex-Governor Adebayo Immortalised

A member of the House of Representatives for the Ifelodun/Irepodun/Isin/ Ekiti/ Oke-Ero federal constituency of Kwara State, Hon. AbdulRaheem Olawuyi, has described Cornelius Adebayo, the state’s former governor, who died recently, as a political colossus and an administrative enigma.

Olawuyi vowed to liaise with the federal and Kwara State governments to immortalise the legacy of Adebayo, who served both the state and country meritoriously.

The lawmaker stated this in Abuja when Omo Ibile Igbomina Forum, Abuja chapter, paid him a courtesy call in his office at the National Assembly complex, Abuja.

Olawuyi stressed that he will take upon himself the task of “Immortalising the legacy of the one-time governor of the state, both at the state and the federal levels.

Speaking on behalf of the forum’s leadership and members, the vice president, Dr Dele Gege, described the late Adebayo as a freedom fighter par excellence and an advocate for the less privileged and the oppressed.

Dele said the deceased, who served as the minister of communications and transportation between 2003 and 2007, will be remembered for his patriotism and commitment to the progress of Kwara State and the Yoruba race.

Also speaking, the general secretary of Omo Ibile Igbomina, Abuja Chapter, Dr Fatai Jimoh, described Adebayo as a political sage, a bridge builder par excellence, and a socialite.

“If Chief Adebayo was the Moses of our time, then Hon. AbdulRaheem Tunji Olawuyi should be prepared to be the Joseph of our present age,” he said.
