The chairman of the 2026 Law Week Planning Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Taraba State, Barr. Confidence Falack, has called on legal practitioners to prioritise their health to remain effective in pursuing justice for their clients.

Falack, who led a health walk yesterday in Jalingo, the state capital, to commence the association’s Law Week, said it was very important for legal practitioners to put their health first before anything else.

He said that, as lawyers, placing their health and well-being above handling cases was non-negotiable, stressing that promoting wellness within the legal profession was essential for improved productivity and effective service delivery.

The NBA chief explained that the initiative was introduced to balance the mental demands of legal practice with physical fitness, warning that, to perform effectively, lawyers must maintain sound health.

“Lawyers are used to exerting enormous pressure on the mind, but the body must also be kept in good condition for optimal performance,” he said.

Falack described the walk as a structured intervention aimed at helping members stay fit, reduce stress and step away briefly from the pressures of legal work.

He added that the programme also targets judges and senior lawyers, whose tight schedules often limit opportunities for regular exercise or participation in any social activities.

Falack expressed satisfaction with the turnout of members and urged continued participation in the Law Week’s activities.

As part of the activities marking this year’s Law Week, the association organised free medical screenings for its members, with a team of doctors conducting the checks.

The road walk, which began at about 6:45 a.m., started from the Magistrate Court complex opposite Government House Junction and covered an estimated four-mile route to the Michelin Roundabout in Jalingo.
